A recent incident in Denpasar has raised serious concerns after a 13-year-old elementary school student reportedly jumped from the third floor of a local market. The case quickly drew widespread attention, with early speculation suggesting a possible connection to the psychological horror game Omori.
According to initial reports, the student had been recording a video with friends before suddenly running and jumping from a height of approximately eight meters. The incident, which was captured and circulated on social media, shocked many viewers and prompted authorities to investigate potential external influences behind the behavior.
Further examination revealed that the video used the song My Time by Bo En, a track widely associated with Omori. This discovery led to assumptions that the student may have been influenced by scenes in the game, particularly those involving emotionally intense or self-harm-related moments.
However, experts strongly caution against drawing direct conclusions. Psychologists emphasize that children and teenagers are still in a critical stage of development, especially in areas related to decision-making and impulse control. This makes them more vulnerable to acting on sudden urges, curiosity, or imitation without fully understanding the consequences.
Specialists also highlight that media exposure alone rarely acts as the sole cause of such incidents. Instead, it may function as a trigger or contributing factor, particularly if the individual is already dealing with emotional distress, social pressure, or other personal challenges. In many cases, actions like these result from a complex combination of psychological, environmental, and situational influences.
Authorities confirmed that the student sustained serious injuries, including fractures in multiple limbs, and has undergone medical treatment. She is currently in recovery, while investigations are ongoing to better understand the full context behind the incident.
