If accurate, future mainline entries could receive substantial downloadable content that extends the core experience instead of relying on separate spin-off titles.
According to industry insider Dusk Golem, the company is interested in developing story expansions comparable in scope to Separate Ways for Resident Evil 4 and Shadow of Rose for Resident Evil Village. The approach is reportedly expected to begin with Resident Evil Requiem and continue in future installments.
The rumored strategy indicates that CAPCOM sees large-scale expansions as a more effective way to expand the series while keeping players engaged after a game’s initial release. Rather than creating standalone spin-off titles such as the Revelations or Chronicles series, the developer may instead invest in additional campaigns connected directly to the main games.
These expansions would reportedly serve as meaningful story content, introducing new perspectives, characters, or events that complement the main narrative while providing players with fresh gameplay experiences after completing the base game.
