007 First Light Launches on Nintendo Switch 2 in March 2027

IO Interactive has confirmed that 007 First Light will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on March 18, 2027. Pre-orders for the upcoming version are now available, giving Nintendo players the opportunity to experience the new James Bond origin story on the company’s latest console.

The game originally launched on May 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The Switch 2 release will expand the game’s availability to another platform while bringing its espionage-focused gameplay to Nintendo’s hybrid console.

A New Origin Story for James Bond

007 First Light presents a standalone story about a young James Bond as he begins his journey toward becoming one of MI6’s most capable agents.

The narrative follows Bond, a resourceful but sometimes reckless young Naval air crewman, who earns an opportunity to join the newly revived Double 0 program after performing a heroic act. However, his training takes a dangerous turn when a mission to stop a rogue agent ends in tragedy.

Bond must then work alongside Greenway, his reluctant mentor, to uncover a deep conspiracy and prevent an impending coup at the heart of the state.

Throughout the adventure, players will visit spectacular locations, drive iconic vehicles, and pursue a rogue agent who always seems to remain one step ahead.

Players Can Choose Their Own Approach

The game offers multiple ways to approach its missions, allowing players to decide how they want to handle different situations. Those who prefer stealth can use gadgets to infiltrate restricted areas, while others can bluff their way past guards or confront enemies directly.

Combat also allows players to choose between hand-to-hand fighting and firearms, supporting different playstyles depending on the mission and circumstances.

Additionally, missions can be replayed with extra modifiers, giving players new ways to revisit their favorite sequences and experiment with alternative approaches.

Switch 2 Version Targets 30 FPS

During Tokyo Game Show 2026, IO Interactive producer Cris Vega discussed the technical progress of the Nintendo Switch 2 version. According to Vega, the port is targeting a stable 30 frames per second and has entered the final stage of performance optimization.

The producer also stated that the Switch 2 version was already playable, with the development team continuing to refine its performance without compromising the game’s content or story.

With its March 18, 2027 release date confirmed, 007 First Light will bring its cinematic espionage adventure to Nintendo Switch 2. Players can look forward to exploring Bond’s early career while deciding how to approach the missions that shape his future as an MI6 agent.
