About Medaka Kuroiwa Is Impervious to My Charms
The anime is based on the manga written and illustrated by Ran Kuze. The series began as a one-shot published in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine in December 2020 before starting regular serialization in May 2021. Kodansha USA publishes the manga in English.
The story follows Mona Kawai, a popular high school student who is accustomed to attracting attention and winning people’s affection. Her confidence is shaken when Medaka Kuroiwa, a transfer student, arrives at school and remains completely unmoved by her charm.
Determined to win him over, Mona tries increasingly elaborate methods to capture his attention. However, Medaka’s indifference challenges her usual approach and pushes her into unfamiliar emotional territory.
The series combines school-life comedy and romance as Mona attempts to understand why Medaka refuses to react to her advances, while their interactions gradually develop into something more complicated than she initially expects.
Crunchyroll streams the first season, which introduced viewers to the unusual dynamic between the confident Mona and the seemingly unshakable Medaka.
With the second season in production at SynergySP, the newly released visual and recap video offer fans a chance to revisit the characters before the romantic comedy returns.
