About The Greatest Magicmaster’s Retirement Plan
The anime is based on the light novel series written and illustrated by Ruria Miyuki. Originally published under Hobby Japan’s HJ Bunko label, the series has reached 20 volumes. A manga adaptation titled The Greatest Magicmaster’s Retirement Plan: The Alternative, illustrated by Karu Yoneshiro, is also available.
J-Novel Club publishes the series in English.
The story takes place in a world where dangerous Fiends threaten humanity and magicmasters serve as its primary line of defense. Alus Reigin is a young prodigy who has defeated more Fiends and reclaimed more lost territory than anyone else alive.
Despite his achievements, Alus requests retirement from military service at just 16 years old. However, his reputation as the nation’s strongest magicmaster makes it difficult for him to leave his responsibilities behind.
Instead, circumstances lead him to enroll at a special magical institute, where he conceals his identity while training the next generation of magicmasters. Alongside two talented female students, Alus attempts to live a more ordinary life while secretly continuing to fight the Fiends threatening humanity.
With the anime scheduled for 2027, the newly announced cast member and character visual offer another glimpse of the fantasy series ahead of its television debut.
