About Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World
The anime adapts the light novel series written by Kei Sazane and illustrated by Ao Nekonabe, which began publication in 2017. Yen Press publishes the novels in English.
The story takes place amid a prolonged war between the technologically advanced Empire and the Nebulis Sovereignty, a nation associated with powerful witches. Their conflict brings together Iska, an imperial swordsman, and Alice, a princess of the Sovereignty.
Although the two begin as sworn enemies determined to defeat one another, they gradually recognize each other’s strength, resolve, and ideals. Their growing feelings challenge the boundaries imposed by the war, leaving them to search for a way to unite their worlds without destroying each other.
With Season 3 now confirmed, Kimisen is set to continue exploring the relationship between Iska and Alice as long-buried secrets threaten to reshape the future of both nations.
