Following years of anticipation since the project’s announcement, the film is now scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters on December 18, 2026.
Produced by ufotable, the movie adapts Type-Moon’s acclaimed visual novel of the same name, also known as Mahoyo. The title serves as an important part of the broader Type-Moon universe and explores the early history of several iconic characters.
Alongside the release date announcement, a new promotional visual and teaser were unveiled, offering another glimpse at the film’s cinematic presentation. As expected from ufotable, the footage highlights detailed animation, dynamic visual effects, and the studio’s signature production quality, further raising expectations among anime fans.
The original Witch on the Holy Night visual novel was written by Kinoko Nasu with artwork by Hirokazu Koyama. Since its debut, the title has been praised for its compelling storytelling, memorable cast, and atmospheric world-building, making an anime adaptation one of the most requested Type-Moon projects for years.
With an official premiere date now confirmed, fans can finally begin counting down to the film’s theatrical debut. Additional information regarding international screenings, ticket sales, and future promotional events is expected to be announced closer to the release window.
