A video allegedly showing an early remake of Revelations: Persona has surfaced online, sparking speculation among fans about Atlus’ potential plans for the classic Persona series. The footage takes the form of a showreel featuring three gameplay segments, including dungeon exploration, combat, and event scenes with 2D illustrations.
The video’s format has reminded fans of the Persona 3 Reload footage that leaked before the remake was officially announced in 2023. However, the authenticity of the latest recording has yet to be confirmed, and several details remain open to interpretation.
Tatsuya Suou’s Appearance Raises Persona 2 Questions
One of the most noticeable details is the appearance of Tatsuya Suou during a combat sequence. Tatsuya is the protagonist of Persona 2: Innocent Sin, but he does not appear in Revelations: Persona.
His presence could simply mean that the development team is using him as a temporary placeholder for another character. However, it has also led to speculation that remakes of Persona 2: Innocent Sin and/or Persona 2: Eternal Punishment could be in development alongside the first game.
The footage also shows Unreal Engine debug text in the upper-left corner of the screen. This has led some fans to believe the recording may have come from a prototype built using the engine, although the detail alone cannot verify the video’s authenticity.
Reused Animations and Placeholder Assets Draw Attention
Eriko Kirishima appears to use a Persona-summoning animation similar to Yukiko Amagi’s animation in Persona 4 Revival. This has further fueled speculation, as developers often reuse assets from other games when creating early prototypes.
A similar approach was reportedly used during the early development of Persona 3 Reload, when assets from other titles helped the team establish a working foundat
