Bocchi the Rock! Announces 2027 Movie Starring Nijika and Seika

Bocchi the Rock! is set to receive a new anime movie in 2027, with Nijika Ijichi and her older sister Seika taking center stage. The announcement was accompanied by a teaser trailer, along with confirmation that Sayumi Suzushiro and Maaya Uchida will reprise their respective roles.

CloverWorks is returning to animate the project, with Shin Wakabayashi directing. Erika Yoshida is handling series composition, while Yukiko Horiguchi is responsible for character designs. Further details about the film, including its release date and story, have yet to be revealed.

Nijika and Seika Return

Sayumi Suzushiro will once again voice Nijika Ijichi, the drummer of Kessoku Band, while Maaya Uchida reprises her role as Seika, Nijika’s older sister and the manager of live house STARRY.

The movie announcement follows the confirmation of Bocchi the Rock! Season 2 in February 2025. Yusuke Yamamoto, who served as assistant director on the first season, is set to direct the upcoming season, replacing Keiichiro Saito.

About Bocchi the Rock!

The first season of Bocchi the Rock! premiered on October 9, 2022, and is available to stream on Crunchyroll.

The anime follows Hitori Goto, a socially anxious girl who begins playing guitar in middle school, hoping that joining a band will give her a chance to shine. With no friends to play with, she spends years practicing alone and uploads guitar performances online under the name “Guitar Hero.”

After entering high school without making any friends, Hitori is approached by Nijika Ijichi, the drummer of Kessoku Band. The encounter leads Hitori into the world of live music and gradually changes her everyday life.

With the 2027 movie now announced and Season 2 in development, Bocchi the Rock! fans can look forward to more of Kessoku Band’s story in the coming years.
