The God Eater franchise has once again become a hot topic after series creator Hiroshi Yoshimura discussed its future during Famitsu’s 40th Anniversary livestream. While he stopped short of confirming a new project, Yoshimura made it clear that he is fully aware of the strong demand from fans who have been waiting for the next installment in the action RPG series.
During the Q&A session, Yoshimura shared that God Eater holds a special place in his heart. He described the franchise as a major part of his younger years and referred to it as an incredibly valuable intellectual property. When asked whether a new project was secretly in development, Yoshimura responded that the answer depended on what people meant by “behind the scenes,” while emphasizing that God Eater remains a series that is deeply important to him.
Yoshimura has played a significant role in shaping the franchise since its beginning. He served as the director of the original God Eater, which launched in Japan in 2010, before returning to direct God Eater Burst for its global release and God Eater Resurrection.
His involvement continued with God Eater 2 and its expanded edition, God Eater 2: Rage Burst. Later, he also co-directed God Eater 3 alongside Wataru Atsumi and Ittetsu Suzuki, helping bring the long-running action RPG series to modern platforms.
Although Yoshimura did not announce a new title during the livestream, he expressed sincere appreciation for the countless messages from fans who continue to support the franchise and hope for its return. His comments suggest that both he and the development team remain aware of the community’s enthusiasm, even if there is nothing official to reveal at this time.
It has now been seven years since God Eater 3 was released globally, leaving many longtime fans eager for the announcement of a new mainline entry. As discussions about the franchise continue to grow, many players believe the time is right for Bandai Namco Entertainment to revive the beloved series.
Toward the end of the discussion, Famitsu encouraged fans to continue sharing their desire for a new God Eater game with Bandai Namco Entertainment. In response, Yoshimura offered a brief but meaningful reply:
“We would greatly appreciate it.”
While the statement falls short of confirming a new game, it has reignited hope within the community that the franchise may still have a future, especially as fan interest remains strong years after the release of God Eater 3.
