A Romantic Comedy About Two Aspiring Manga Artists
Now That We Draw follows Yuuki Uehara and Nina Miyamoto, two aspiring manga artists who encounter the same creative obstacle: their editors believe the romantic elements in their stories lack authenticity.
Neither artist has experienced falling in love, leaving them unsure how to write convincing romantic relationships. To solve the problem, they come up with an unusual plan: pretend to be a couple and learn about romance firsthand.
The arrangement creates opportunities for awkward encounters, misunderstandings, and potentially unexpected feelings as the pair attempt to turn their real-life experiences into better manga.
Manga Origins
The anime adapts the manga written by Kyu Takahata and illustrated by Yuwji Kaba. Serialization began in Young Animal, published by Hakusensha, in February 2023. The ongoing series has released eight collected volumes, with Seven Seas Entertainment publishing the first six volumes in English.
With its January 2027 premiere approaching, further details about the anime’s promotional campaign and the opening theme are expected to emerge in the coming months.
