The upcoming MURCIÉLAGO anime has unveiled a new promotional visual and trailer, alongside the announcement of three additional cast members. The series is scheduled to premiere in January 2027, with HIDIVE set to exclusively simulcast the anime in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.
The adaptation brings Kana Yoshimura’s dark action manga to television through a joint production by Satelight and Staple Entertainment. Further details about the three newly announced voice actors and their respective characters have not been provided in the available announcement.
Satelight and Staple Entertainment Handle Production
Takashi Naoya serves as chief director and series composition writer, while Matsuo Asami directs the anime. Sei Tateishi is responsible for character design, with Masanori Akita and Yuichi Tsuchiya composing the music.
The animation is being produced jointly by Satelight and Staple Entertainment. The newly released trailer and visual offer another preview of the adaptation ahead of its scheduled television debut.
With its distinctive premise centered on a government-sanctioned hitwoman who targets other killers, MURCIÉLAGO brings its blend of violent action and dark humor to the anime format.
Manga Surpasses 2.3 Million Copies Worldwide
Written and illustrated by Kana Yoshimura, MURCIÉLAGO has been serialized by Square Enix since August 2013. The manga has surpassed 2.3 million copies in circulation worldwide, demonstrating its lasting popularity among readers.
The series has reached 29 collected volumes in Japan and 27 volumes internationally. Yen Press publishes the manga in English, introducing international readers to its crime-focused story and unconventional protagonist.
The story follows Kuroko Koumori, a notorious mass murderer who finds an unusual new role working as a hitwoman for the Tokyo police. Rather than pursuing ordinary criminals, she is given permission to eliminate other killers, turning her violent background into a tool for law enforcement.
This arrangement forms the foundation of the series’ action-driven narrative, combining criminal investigations with Kuroko’s dangerous methods and the morally complicated nature of her work.
January 2027 Premiere Approaches
The new visual and trailer mark another promotional milestone for the MURCIÉLAGO anime as it moves toward its January 2027 premiere. HIDIVE’s exclusive simulcast will also bring the adaptation to viewers across several English-speaking territories.
Additional information, including the identities of the newly announced cast members and further release details, is expected to be revealed closer to the broadcast.
