The anime adaptation of the manga Walking Home with You (Houkago Kitaku Biyori) has officially been announced for a April 2027 premiere. Alongside the announcement, the production team unveiled the first visual for the upcoming series, although details about the animation studio have yet to be revealed.
The anime is categorized under the romance, school, and seinen genres, promising a lighthearted romantic comedy centered around two students and their unusual after-school routine.
The story follows Shun, who is invited to join the Going-Home Club by Naoki Satou, affectionately known as Naoki-chan. Although Shun initially attempts to turn down the invitation, he eventually finds himself accepting it.
What follows is an unconventional school romance built around the simple act of walking home after class. Naoki’s tendency to take unnecessary detours turns an ordinary journey into a series of unexpected situations, while Shun is portrayed as a boy who is still searching for a sense of purpose in his life.
Rather than focusing solely on dramatic romance, Walking Home with You combines its relationship-driven story with elements of everyday school life and comedy. The contrast between Naoki’s spontaneous personality and Shun’s more uncertain outlook forms the foundation of the series.
The Going-Home Club also provides a setting where the characters can gradually become closer through their daily interactions. What initially appears to be a simple invitation eventually becomes an opportunity for Shun to experience new situations and reconsider what he wants from his life.
At present, the production team has not announced the animation studio, director, voice cast, or exact premiere date. More information is expected to be revealed as the April 2027 broadcast approaches.
With its combination of romance, school comedy, and seinen storytelling, Walking Home with You is shaping up to be a laid-back addition to the Spring 2027 anime season. Fans of character-driven romantic comedies can look forward to learning more about Shun and Naoki’s after-school adventures in the coming months.
