On May 4, Massachusetts-based indie studio Snoozy Kazoo announced a brand-new installment in the Turnip Boy saga: Turnip Boy Steals The Mail, a 2D auto-runner spinoff that’s now available to wishlist on Steam. This latest game in the offbeat series will be free to play at launch, though its official release date has yet to be revealed.

A Prequel With Postal Mayhem

Set one day before the events of 2021’s Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion, this new title serves as a prequel to the original cult hit. In Turnip Boy Steals The Mail, players will experience the vegetable antihero’s first steps into crime, working under a mysterious dark velvet cake named Velvet.

Where Tax Evasion drew comparisons to classic Zelda-style adventures and its sequel, Turnip Boy Robs A Bank, added rogue-lite flair, this new game brings a fresh twist with 2D auto-scrolling platformer mechanics. Expect frantic gameplay as Turnip Boy dodges obstacles, grabs mail, and powers up with collectible cosmetics and upgrades.

First Look and Gameplay Details

A 25-second trailer released by Snoozy Kazoo gives fans a sneak peek at the fast-paced, chaotic world of Turnip Boy Steals The Mail. The trailer highlights the game’s vibrant, cartoon-style visuals and showcases some of the gameplay elements, including mail-snatching, enemy dodging, and zipping across Veggieville at high speed.

Published In-House by Snoozy Kazoo

Unlike previous games published by Graffiti Games, this new title is being developed and self-published by Snoozy Kazoo. Studio lead Yukon Wainczak emphasized the importance of expanding the Turnip Boy universe while experimenting with new genres and gameplay styles.

Wishlist It Now on Steam

While the release date is still under wraps, Turnip Boy Steals The Mail is now available to wishlist on Steam, building excitement among fans of indie games and chaotic platformers alike. With its free-to-play model, charmingly absurd premise, and rapid-fire gameplay, it’s shaping up to be another hit for Snoozy Kazoo’s quirky franchise.
