Rebellion CEO Teases Atomfall Sequel: “It Deserves More Content”

Following the successful launch of Atomfall in March, Rebellion Developments is already hinting at the game’s future — and a sequel may be on the horizon. In a recent interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley expressed his enthusiasm for building on the studio’s newest IP, stating that Atomfall “deserves additional content.”

A Bold Return to Original IP

Atomfall marks Rebellion’s first new IP in over six years, and the England-based studio didn’t play it safe. Blending a post-World War II setting with nuclear paranoia and science fiction themes, the game carved out a unique identity far removed from more traditional genre titles. While inspired in part by Obsidian’s Fallout: New Vegas, Atomfall unfolds in a lush, eerie version of Northern England — a creative risk that Kingsley proudly embraced.

Not Just Another British Fallout

Though some fans initially expected a British version of Fallout, Atomfall’s atmospheric setting and original narrative offered a fresh take on the post-apocalyptic formula. This distinction has helped the game stand out in a crowded genre, earning praise for its bold world-building and storytelling.

Kingsley’s strategy of maintaining a balance between sequels and new ideas reflects his broader philosophy. “The idea has always been to have two-thirds sequels and one-third new IP, pushing the boundaries,” he explained. With Atomfall added to Rebellion’s list of evolving titles — alongside Sniper Elite, Zombie Army, and Strange Brigade — fans have good reason to believe this isn’t the end of the road for the new franchise.

Sequels Seem Likely

Kingsley made it clear: if the resources are there, the team wants to give fans more. Considering the strong reception and the game’s presence on Xbox Game Pass, the demand certainly exists.

Stay tuned with us while nothing is officially confirmed yet, it’s safe to say Atomfall has solid potential for a sequel — or even an extended series. For fans of sci-fi mystery and alternative history, that’s an exciting possibility.
