After generating significant anticipation since its announcement in July, Persona 5: The Phantom X is set to launch a special collaboration with Persona 3 Reload this week. The crossover will introduce Kotone Shiomi as an exclusive playable character, accompanied by an original story event consisting of five episodes and featuring additional characters from the Persona 3 universe.
Kotone Shiomi was originally introduced in Persona 3 Portable as an alternative female protagonist to Makoto Yuki. Since her debut, she has developed a strong following among Persona fans due to her distinct story route, character interactions, and unique perspective compared with the original protagonist.
Her arrival in Persona 5: The Phantom X marks another opportunity for Kotone to appear in a modern Persona title. Her inclusion is particularly notable for players who have been hoping to see more of the Persona 3 Portable version of the story in future projects.
The collaboration also continues Persona 5: The Phantom X‘s approach of bringing characters and elements from different entries in the long-running franchise into its mobile and PC experience. With Kotone joining the Phantom X roster, the crossover further connects characters and stories from different generations of the Persona series while introducing new content for players.
The special collaboration event is scheduled to begin on September 24, 2026, and will launch simultaneously across all servers. Players will be able to experience the original crossover scenario while adding Kotone Shiomi to their playable roster.
Persona 5: The Phantom X is available as a free-to-play title on Android, iOS, and PC. Meanwhile, Persona 3 Portable has also been remastered and is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
With Kotone Shiomi finally returning to the spotlight, the collaboration provides Persona 5: The Phantom X players with a new story centered around one of the franchise’s most recognizable alternate protagonists.
