After months of speculation, Sony has officially confirmed the Ghost of Yotei release date—October 2, 2025. Announced alongside a brand-new trailer titled The Onryō’s List, the upcoming PS5 exclusive from Sucker Punch Productions is set to kick off this year’s blockbuster gaming season.
A Revenge-Fueled Journey Through Feudal Japan
The new trailer reveals the game’s emotionally charged plot centered around Atsu, a lone survivor seeking vengeance after her family is brutally murdered by a ruthless gang known as the Yotei Six. Left for dead, stabbed, and pinned to a flaming ginkgo tree, Atsu survives and disappears for 16 years to master the art of war.
Her return marks the beginning of a violent retribution, with a list of six targets: The Snake, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and Lord Saito. Each name on The Onryō’s List represents a chapter in Atsu’s journey to dismantle the gang that destroyed her life.
Signature Katana and Symbolic Storytelling
Atsu’s primary weapon—the very katana used to pin her to the tree—serves as a powerful symbol of her transformation. Ghost of Yotei continues Sucker Punch’s tradition of blending visceral combat, emotional storytelling, and stunning Japanese landscapes.
