Japanese entertainment company Cover Corp, the parent company of Hololive Productions, has officially announced a brand-new VTuber project with an independent vision. The announcement was made on Friday (January 30), signaling a strategic move to diversify its talent ecosystem and strengthen global recognition.
According to the official statement, the new initiative will operate as a sub-organization under Hololive Productions but will not be confined to the traditional “virtual idol agency” framework that Hololive is widely known for. Instead, the project aims to explore new genres and broaden creative possibilities beyond the existing structure.
Open Auditions Now Available
Alongside the announcement, Cover Corp opened VTuber auditions for individuals aged 18 and above who reside in Japan, regardless of nationality or gender. Applications will remain open until March 13.
The recruitment page carries the slogan: “Let’s create everyday experiences loved by everyone.” This reflects the company’s ambition to cultivate talents capable of surpassing conventional VTuber idol boundaries while pioneering new entertainment genres for global audiences.
Interestingly, Cover also stated that successful talents may have the opportunity to transfer to Hololive Productions or debut under a specialized organization if they achieve specific milestones during their activities.
Focus on Multilingual and Entertainment Skills
Cover emphasized the importance of multilingual abilities and prior entertainment experience. Candidates are expected to use Japanese as their primary language while also possessing foreign language proficiency at a business level.
The company is seeking applicants from diverse entertainment backgrounds, including:
Singers
Voice actors or stage actors
Dancers and performers
Musicians or band members
Comedians
Unique skills that can enhance talent activities will also be taken into consideration.
Part of a Broader Expansion Strategy
This move aligns with Cover’s long-term strategy to expand its VTuber ecosystem. In 2023, the company established hololive DEV_IS, a division separate from traditional Hololive units that focuses on challenge-based growth concepts. Units such as ReGLOSS and FLOW GLOW have already debuted under that banner.
For this latest project, Cover highlighted the importance of team synergy and collaborative entertainment formats. The approach reflects an effort to develop more flexible, globally adaptable virtual entertainment models as the VTuber market continues to evolve.
