Ubisoft has officially released the Assassin’s Creed Shadows Year 1 roadmap, outlining a packed schedule of post-launch content that includes free story updates, a mystery collaboration, parkour system upgrades, and more. The roadmap follows the game’s successful launch, which saw it surpass 3 million players within its first week—making it the second-biggest debut in franchise history, behind Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
New Quest: “The Works of Luis Frois” Arrives in May
Kicking off Year 1 is a new story quest titled “The Works of Luis Frois”, set to release in early May 2025. This mission dives deeper into the backstory of the Portuguese Jesuit missionary Luis Frois, whom players may remember from Yasuke’s opening chapter. Alongside the quest, players can expect a Codex update and multiple quality-of-life improvements to enhance the gameplay experience.
Late May: Special Collaboration & Parkour Update
In late May, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will receive its first-ever special collaboration, though Ubisoft is keeping the partner’s identity under wraps for now. This mysterious content drop will coincide with key Photo Mode enhancements and a major parkour update.
The parkour system overhaul includes:
-
Reintroduction of back and side ejects to gain verticality.
-
A new move: Vertical Ledge Jump, allowing players to leap from the ground to grab lower overhangs like awnings.
-
Additional parkour animations and traversal improvements planned in later updates.
Both protagonists, Yasuke and Naoe, will be able to use these new mobility options, adding a layer of depth to vertical exploration.
What’s Next for Assassin’s Creed Shadows
While Ubisoft hasn’t disclosed the full details of future expansions, this roadmap strongly signals a commitment to supporting Assassin’s Creed Shadows with regular content and gameplay polish. With major story-driven DLCs still expected, Year 1 promises to be a transformative period for the title.
