Microsoft has officially unveiled the brand-new Xbox Breaker Series controllers, a striking trio of special editions launching worldwide on September 9, 2025. For the first time, all three designs are being released simultaneously, marking a bold new step in Microsoft’s controller strategy. Preorders are already live through the Microsoft Store and major retailers like Amazon for $79.99.
Three Bold Designs in One Series
The Breaker Series introduces three unique designs tied together by a shard-like aesthetic:
-
Ice Breaker – A cool glacier-blue design with frosted translucent casing, textured grips, and blue accents across buttons and thumbsticks.
-
Storm Breaker – A sleek mix of black, white, and metallic silver with an opaque shell and metallic D-pad, offering a camo-inspired look.
-
Heart Breaker – A vivid pink translucent casing accented with purple and blue shards, purple thumbsticks, and pink-detailed buttons, making it the most colorful of the lineup.
Same Trusted Xbox Performance
While visually unique, the Breaker Series retains the features of the standard Xbox Wireless Controller:
-
Compatibility with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Mac, Android, and iOS via Xbox Wireless and Bluetooth.
-
Textured grips and triggers for better handling.
-
A 3.5mm headset jack for wired audio.
-
Full customization through the Xbox Accessories app, including button remapping, trigger adjustments, and vibration tuning.
A Step Beyond Previous Special Editions
Unlike the staggered rollout of last year’s Cipher Series, the Breaker Series offers all three designs at once, giving players more choice immediately. This move also comes shortly after Microsoft revived the Xbox Design Lab, allowing fans to further personalize their controllers with custom colorways and engravings.
What’s Next for Xbox Controllers?
The Breaker Series release has also reignited speculation about Microsoft’s future controller plans. Rumors persist of the upgraded “Sebile” controller, as well as a potential successor to the Elite Series 2, designed for pro-level players. For now, however, the Breaker Series gives gamers bold new style without sacrificing performance.
