The Rayman franchise could finally be making a comeback, if recent rumors from a well-known industry insider prove true. According to reports, Ubisoft may be working on not just one, but two Rayman projects—including a compilation of classic platforming titles for modern platforms. While Ubisoft has yet to confirm anything officially, this potential revival has fans buzzing with excitement.

A Look Back at Rayman’s Legacy

Originally released in 1995 on platforms like the PlayStation and the 3DO, the first Rayman introduced players to a 2D platforming adventure filled with whimsical art and challenging levels. The series then transitioned into 3D with Rayman 2: The Great Escape in 1999, widely praised as one of Ubisoft’s most iconic PlayStation-era releases.

The most recent console entry, Rayman Legends (2013), showcased a hand-drawn art style and became a critical darling. Since then, Rayman has only appeared in smaller spin-offs, such as his cameo in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope.

The Latest Rayman Rumors

Industry insider Nash Weedle recently claimed that Ubisoft is actively developing two new Rayman projects. One is said to be a compilation of past titles, upgraded for modern hardware, while the other could be a brand-new 3D platformer. Weedle also suggested that the games may use the cartoon-inspired art style seen in Rayman Legends and Rayman Origins.

Even more intriguing, Weedle mentioned that both projects might be shown privately at Gamescom 2025 (August 20–24) to potential partners. With the event kicking off with Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live on August 19, speculation is running high that Rayman could finally resurface.

Ubisoft’s Silence and Trademark Hints

As expected, Ubisoft has not publicly commented on these rumors. However, in September 2024, the company renewed its trademark for Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc, sparking speculation that a re-release could be in the works.

This, combined with the new rumors, has reignited hopes that the limbless hero could return to consoles after more than a decade of dormancy.

Will Rayman Finally Return?

With Ubisoft already juggling multiple remakes and projects, fans are tempering expectations. Still, the idea of Rayman returning—whether through a nostalgic compilation, a brand-new adventure, or both—offers a glimmer of hope for longtime followers of the franchise.

For now, the gaming world waits to see if Ubisoft is truly preparing to bring Rayman back into the spotlight.
