TYPE-MOON has officially shared an important update regarding the development status of Fate/EXTRA Record. The publisher for the highly anticipated title has been shifted from Bandai Namco to Aniplex. Alongside this transition, internal restructurings within TYPE-MOON studio BB have taken place, leading to updates in the project’s development pipeline.
As part of these adjustments, the current official website and Twitter account for Fate/EXTRA Record will cease operations on September 7 at 3:00 PM. A newly designed official website will launch subsequently, featuring an updated staff credits list to reflect the recent organizational changes.
In a related development, Kazuya Niino, who previously served as the director for Fate/EXTRA Record, announced his departure from TYPE-MOON studio BB due to personal reasons. Niino stepped down from his role as director and requested the removal of his name from the game’s credits. He noted that he will be taking a temporary break from game development to focus on health recovery.
A complete remake of the classic 2010 PlayStation Portable title Fate/EXTRA, Fate/EXTRA Record turns the original experience into a modernized turn-based dungeon-crawling RPG. Players assume the role of a Master who awakens in a mysterious virtual world and is thrust into a fierce Holy Grail War. Accompanied by a chosen Servant, players must navigate tactical battles to survive while uncovering the mystery of their identity. The game is slated for release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, though an official launch date has yet to be finalized.
