Turn 10 Studios — the team behind the long-running Forza Motorsport franchise — may be among the next victims of Microsoft’s sweeping job cuts, according to new reports from credible industry insiders.
Founded in 2001, Turn 10 is one of Xbox’s oldest and most respected first-party studios. However, that legacy may not shield the developer from Microsoft’s latest restructuring wave. According to industry veteran George Broussard and The Verge’s Tom Warren, sources have indicated that Turn 10 is “bracing for cuts” — with layoffs potentially landing as early as next week.
This news arrives amid growing concerns about Microsoft’s internal shake-ups. Just over a week ago, reports revealed the company was preparing to eliminate thousands of sales jobs in July 2025, shifting some responsibilities to third-party providers. Last month, the tech giant cut approximately 6,000 employees, or 3% of its global workforce, in a bid to reduce redundancies and consolidate operations.
While earlier rounds of layoffs focused largely on Microsoft’s broader business divisions, attention is now turning to Xbox. Reports published just days ago suggest up to 2,000 jobs may be cut from the Xbox division alone — potentially accounting for 10–20% of its staff. George Broussard posted on Bluesky that the upcoming cuts could be some of the largest in the history of Microsoft Gaming.
Further corroborating this, Tom Warren of The Verge confirmed that Turn 10 Studios is preparing for possible layoffs, as the Forza developer is reportedly caught up in the upcoming wave of job cuts.
Turn 10 most recently released Forza Motorsport in late 2023, a reboot of the acclaimed simulation racing franchise. Despite initial praise for its technical prowess and realism, post-launch engagement reportedly declined, which may have factored into Microsoft’s internal evaluations.
If these reports hold true, the future of Turn 10 and the broader Forza brand could be in jeopardy, especially as Microsoft continues to reevaluate its investments and priorities in first-party development. Fans and industry professionals alike are watching closely as one of Xbox’s most iconic studios faces an uncertain road ahead.
Stay tuned for official announcements in the coming days.
