Titan Quest 2 has stormed into Early Access on Steam with remarkable momentum, selling over 300,000 copies by August 5, 2025, and showing no signs of slowing down. Developed by Grimlore Games and published by THQ Nordic, the sequel to the beloved 2006 ARPG is proving to be both a critical and commercial hit.
The original Titan Quest, developed by Iron Lore Entertainment, became a cult classic thanks to its innovative dual mastery system — allowing players to combine two classes into unique builds — and its rich, mythological setting inspired by Ancient Greece, Egypt, and China. Titan Quest 2 builds on that legacy, blending fast-paced hack-and-slash action with immersive environments steeped in classical mythology.
This time, players are thrust into a fictionalized Ancient Greece to face the Goddess of Retribution, Nemesis. The game begins on Proti Island, serving as a tutorial, before opening into the larger region of Pyrgos. The Early Access version includes one Act, allowing players to reach Level 40 and choose from two of four planned Masteries — Rogue, Warfare, Storm, and Earth.
According to THQ Nordic, Titan Quest 2 topped the charts on both Steam and the Epic Games Store within its first 72 hours. Even after two weeks, it has maintained around 50% of its concurrent player peak — impressive given that Early Access currently offers only 9–15 hours of story content.
Many players are praising Titan Quest 2 as a refreshing alternative to Path of Exile 2 and Diablo 4, thanks to its premium single-player focus and absence of microtransactions. Instead, Grimlore Games plans to support the title with DLCs and expansion packs. While full multiplayer functionality isn’t available yet, the developers have promised expanded co-op features during the Early Access period.
With its combination of nostalgic charm, mythological depth, and a player-first approach, Titan Quest 2’s early success suggests it could be one of 2025’s most significant ARPG releases once it launches in full.
