The upcoming fantasy anime Suikoden the Anime has unveiled its latest promotional trailer and key visual, along with confirmation that the series will premiere in October 2026. The project is based on the beloved RPG Suikoden II and is being produced by Konami Animations.
As one of the most acclaimed titles in the Suikoden game franchise, the adaptation is expected to bring the game’s emotional storytelling, political intrigue, and large ensemble cast to the anime format.

Synopsis
The story follows Riou and his childhood friend Jowy, two young soldiers serving in the Highland Army. Their lives change drastically when they become victims of a brutal scheme orchestrated by the ruthless prince, Luca Blight. The massacre is staged to provoke a large-scale war between the Highland Kingdom and the City-States of Jowston.
After narrowly escaping the slaughter, Riou and Jowy find themselves caught in the middle of a growing conflict that threatens to reshape the fate of entire nations. As tensions escalate and alliances shift, both friends are drawn onto different paths shaped by duty, ambition, and the weight of their choices.
Throughout the war, they encounter allies, rivals, and legendary warriors who become part of a larger struggle involving the mystical True Runes—ancient powers capable of influencing the course of history.
At its core, the story explores themes of friendship, betrayal, and destiny. Riou and Jowy must ultimately decide where their loyalties lie, even if their choices lead them to stand on opposite sides of the battlefield.
