Stellar Blade Twitter Hacked to Sell Fake Cryptocurrency

Hacked Stellar Blade Twitter account promoting fraudulent cryptocurrency token

The official Twitter account for Stellar Blade, one of 2024’s most acclaimed PlayStation exclusives, has been hijacked by hackers to promote a fraudulent cryptocurrency scam.

Developed by Shift Up and published by Sony, Stellar Blade launched in early 2024 to massive critical and commercial success. The visually striking action game quickly sold over one million copies in its first month, and recently surpassed three million units sold. However, the game’s growing popularity appears to have made it a target for malicious actors.

Hacker Uses Stellar Blade’s Twitter to Sell Fake Crypto

As first reported by ComicBook.com, the Stellar Blade Twitter account was compromised and began posting tweets promoting a fake digital currency called “Stellar Blade Coin.”

The scam posts featured official in-game promotional artwork and falsely claimed that the token was affiliated with the game, even going so far as to promise in-game rewards to users who engaged with the cryptocurrency. The hacker disabled replies to the posts, likely in an attempt to silence fans trying to warn others that the account had been hijacked.

The tweets also included links to suspicious sites — a classic phishing scam technique — and mimicked common crypto-giveaway language seen in similar hacks across the web.

Stellar Blade Joins a Growing List of Hacked Brands

Cryptocurrency scams like this have become increasingly common, especially on platforms like Twitter/X. Hackers have previously targeted small content creators and major brands alike — including the likes of Kai Cenat, a popular Twitch streamer, and Viz Media, the anime and manga publisher, whose official Twitter account was hacked earlier this year to spread crypto phishing links.

This latest breach places Shift Up alongside other high-profile victims, revealing the vulnerabilities of even major industry players.

No Word Yet from Shift Up or Sony

At the time of writing, neither Shift Up nor Sony has issued a formal statement addressing the hack. However, fans quickly noticed the unusual behavior and sounded the alarm across social media platforms.

While the posts have since been removed, the incident has sparked concerns about account security for video game developers and publishers — especially as social media plays a crucial role in fan engagement, game promotion, and player support.

What Fans Should Do

If you interacted with the hacked Stellar Blade Twitter account during the breach:

  • Do not click on any links you may have seen in the fraudulent posts.

  • Avoid connecting any wallets or providing personal information on websites mentioned.

  • Change your passwords if you use the same credentials on other accounts.

  • Enable 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) on all your social media platforms for better protection.

It’s unclear how many users may have been affected, but community efforts to spread awareness have likely minimized the scam’s impact.

The Stellar Blade Twitter hacked incident is a stark reminder of how vulnerable even the most polished and professional brands can be in today’s digital landscape. As Stellar Blade continues to build its fanbase, it’s vital for developers to ensure strong security practices — both to protect their brand and their community.

Fans are hopeful that Shift Up will soon regain full control of the account and take steps to prevent future breaches.
