The legacy of old-school video games continues to delight audiences through spiritual successors, and the latest example is Slopecrashers—a modern-day arcade snowboarding title reminiscent of Snowboard Kids and SSX Tricky. Originally released on the Nintendo 64 and later ported to the PlayStation, Snowboard Kids became a cult classic thanks to its colorful characters and addictive gameplay. Now, Slopecrashers checks all the nostalgic boxes while adding fresh twists that have fans buzzing.

Over the years, retro sports games have retained their charm, with classics like Backyard Baseball making comebacks on modern platforms. However, older games can be tricky to access or play today, making new releases with familiar mechanics a welcome treat for both veterans and newcomers.

Developed solo by byteparrot, Slopecrashers is an action-packed snowboard racing game where players take control of a wild cast of animal characters. They’ll perform stylish tricks, collect vibrant power-ups, and race to become the ultimate champion of the slopes. The game offers 20 unique tracks spread across a campaign with over 120 events and side quests, plus special modes, unlockables, and customization options. Players can go it alone or compete in local split-screen and online multiplayer.

Like its predecessors, Slopecrashers rewards stunts and combos with speed boosts, letting players rocket past rivals. But it also adds a wacky twist—customizable gliders, jets, and grappling hooks—that make each race unpredictable.

Available now for PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One, with a PlayStation 4 release on the way, the game combines nostalgic gameplay with crisp, modern visuals.

Arcade Racing with a Wild Roster

Offering build variety similar to the kart and vehicle customization in Mario Kart, Slopecrashers features:

  • 9 fully voice-acted cartoon animal riders

  • 38 snowboards, including quirky gear like frying pans

  • 25 game-changing tools to shake up the race

Players can take part in races, slaloms, stunt shows, and boss battles across Campaign, Grand Prix, and Arcade Modes. Whether it’s chaotic online showdowns with up to eight players or split-screen mayhem for four friends, Slopecrashers delivers snowboarding fun with a playful, next-gen twist.
