Just hours after Ready or Not’s Los Suenos Stories update introduced sweeping censorship changes to the PC version, a fan-made mod has emerged to undo most of the edits.
Released on July 17, the update added new missions, weapons, and gameplay improvements, but also introduced several controversial changes. These included the removal of corpse dismemberment, censorship of nudity, and cuts to in-game references involving child abuse and human trafficking — changes VOID Interactive cited as necessary for the game’s upcoming console release.
The community’s response was immediate and intense. Many longtime players felt the changes diluted the tactical realism and mature themes that originally defined Ready or Not.
In response, Nexus Mods user eman734 released a mod titled “Uncensored or Not”, which restores much of the censored content. Available now on Nexus Mods, the mod re-enables nudity, corpse dismemberment, and restores cut dialogue and scenario elements. The mod is still in active development and may present some stability issues, but the creator has assured fans on Reddit that updates will follow to bring back any additional removed content.
While VOID Interactive has not commented on the mod’s release, the speed and popularity of the workaround highlights the growing rift between the studio and its most dedicated players.
As the debate continues over artistic integrity, player agency, and platform guidelines, Ready or Not becomes the latest battleground in the ongoing conversation around video game censorship — and the power of modding communities to push back.
