Capcom has officially announced Resident Evil Survival Unit, a brand-new mobile-exclusive game launching in late 2025, featuring beloved characters like Leon S. Announced during Anime Expo 2025 in Los Angeles, Resident Evil Survival Unit is being helmed by Shinji Hashimoto, a veteran of the gaming industry best known for his work on the Final Fantasy series at Square Enix. Despite retiring in 2022, Hashimoto has returned with this bold new project that reimagines Resident Evil’s traditional gameplay for mobile platforms.
Unlike past entries in the franchise, this mobile installment shifts toward a team-based survival format, giving players control of squads of three characters, each with unique abilities tailored to specific gameplay scenarios.

Resident Evil Survival Unit is being developed specifically for mobile devices, and Capcom has promised a premium horror experience despite the change in platform.
