Prototype 3 Leak Gains Traction

It’s now easier than ever to believe the rumors surrounding Prototype 3, thanks to a recent development that gives new weight to a previously overlooked leak. Though Prototype 3 hasn’t been officially announced, an old Reddit post has resurfaced in the community’s attention after it correctly predicted key details about Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. The leak also claimed that a new Prototype game is in development—and now, fans are listening more closely.

🧵 The Deleted Reddit Leak That Changed Everything

The origin of the new Prototype 3 leak goes back to a since-deleted Reddit post from April 2025. The user, known as Bigbyy, claimed to have participated in an Activision “study group” and shared details about upcoming projects. At the time, the post didn’t gain much attention. However, that’s changed drastically after some of their Call of Duty claims turned out to be accurate.

Bigbyy wrote that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 would feature a co-op campaign and teased possible remastered Black Ops 2 Zombies maps. Activision has since confirmed the co-op campaign, making the rest of their predictions—including the Prototype 3 mention—suddenly far more plausible.

🧬 Prototype 3: What We Know From the Leak

According to the now-deleted post, Prototype 3 would:

  • Mark the return of Alex Mercer, the original anti-hero from the first game.

  • Be set once again in a mutated, chaotic New York City.

  • Focus on a darker, more grounded narrative (though this part was speculative).

No release window, platforms, or gameplay mechanics were detailed, but the simple mention of the game in a credible leak is enough to stir hope in longtime fans of the franchise.

🕹️ Prototype’s Dormant Legacy

The Prototype series has been on ice for over a decade. The first two games released in 2009 and 2012, respectively, for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, with a remastered bundle hitting PS4 and Xbox One in 2015. Despite cult-favorite status, the franchise was never followed up—until now, if these rumors hold true.

Since Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision, speculation has been rampant about reviving dormant IPs for Game Pass content or modern reboots. With renewed interest in single-player open-world titles, the return of Prototype wouldn’t be entirely out of place.

👀 Fans Are Paying Attention Now

While many brushed off Bigbyy’s claims at first, the accurate Black Ops 7 predictions have added a new level of credibility. Across Reddit and gaming forums, fans are hopeful:

“If Black Ops 7’s campaign leak was real, why not Prototype 3?” one Redditor posted.
“Just give me Alex Mercer back. I’ve been waiting 10 years for this,” wrote another.

The Prototype 3 leak might have been easy to ignore a few months ago, but it’s no longer so far-fetched. With insider predictions turning out to be true and growing chatter about Activision revisiting its legacy franchises, the return of Prototype is something fans can finally imagine again.
