The Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC) once again buzzed with excitement as myBCA Indonesia Comic Con x Indonesia Anime Con 2025 officially kicked off. Organized by Panorama Media, the two-day event serves as a dynamic crossroads where Western and Eastern pop cultures unite under the theme “Pop Culture Crossover Celebration of The Year.”
The opening ceremony featured remarks from Andita Tirtawisata, Director of PT Panorama Media; Lulu Anwar, Project Manager of myBCA ICC x INACON 2025; Andhika Permata, Head of Jakarta’s Tourism Office; and Irene Umar, Deputy Minister of Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia.
This collaboration between the government, industry leaders, and creative communities underscores the growing maturity of Indonesia’s pop culture ecosystem and its readiness to compete on the international stage.
Pop Culture as a Platform for Growth and Collaboration
In her opening remarks, Andita Tirtawisata, Director of PT Panorama Media, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting Indonesia’s creative economy through world-class exhibitions.
> “We believe pop culture is not just entertainment—it’s an economic engine that generates new opportunities and strengthens cross-sector collaboration. Through myBCA ICC x INACON, we aim to contribute to Indonesia’s creative growth while giving young creators a global stage to showcase their talent,” said Andita.
Meanwhile, Andhika Permata, Head of the Jakarta Tourism Office, emphasized the event’s role in positioning Jakarta as a creative and youth-friendly city.
> “Jakarta is not only an economic hub—it’s a space for creativity and innovation to flourish. ICC x INACON reflects the city’s collaborative spirit, presenting Jakarta as a center for urban culture and a rising pop culture destination in Asia,” he explained.
Irene Umar, Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, added that the event is part of the October Creative Festival, an initiative by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) to boost the national creative industry’s contribution to GDP.

> “We aim for the creative economy sector to contribute around 8–8.4% to the national GDP by 2029. Events like this bring together creators, communities, and industries, allowing local IPs and characters to grow globally. Through the October Creative Festival, we want to showcase that Indonesian creativity is not only culturally rich but also globally competitive and economically impactful,” said Irene.
