The Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) is set to captivate fans with its upcoming expansion, Destined Rivals, officially revealed as the tenth set in the Scarlet & Violet series. Scheduled for release on May 30, 2025, with prerelease events from May 17 to May 25, this set promises to deliver an exciting array of new cards and beloved characters.

Key Features of the Destined Rivals Expansion:

  • Extensive Card Collection: The set boasts over 240 cards, offering a diverse range for collectors and players alike.

  • Trainer’s Pokémon Spotlight: Featuring over 85 Trainer’s Pokémon, including more than 45 Team Rocket’s Pokémon, fans can look forward to cards associated with iconic trainers.

  • Pokémon ex Cards: The expansion introduces 17 Pokémon ex, with 10 Trainer’s Pokémon ex, adding strategic depth to gameplay.

  • Trainer Cards: More than 20 Trainer cards are included, providing players with new tactics and strategies.

  • Special Illustrations: Collectors can seek out over 45 Pokémon and Trainer cards with special illustrations, enhancing the visual appeal of their decks.

  • Team Rocket’s Influence: The set features 83 new cards tagged as Team Rocket’s, bringing a nostalgic touch for longtime fans.

  • Rare and Ultra-Rare Cards: Enthusiasts can hunt for 23 illustration rare Pokémon, 11 special illustration rare Pokémon, and 6 hyper rare gold-etched cards, adding rarity and value to their collections.PokeBeach

Elite Trainer Box and Promotional Cards:

The Elite Trainer Box for Destined Rivals includes a special promo card: Team Rocket’s Wobbuffet, a nod to the infamous duo, Jessie and James. The Pokémon Center version of the Elite Trainer Box offers both a stamped and regular copy of this card, while the standard version contains the regular copy.

Prerelease events will feature promotional cards such as Team Rocket’s Tyranitar and Team Rocket’s Mimikyu, providing participants with exclusive collectibles ahead of the official release.

Set Composition and Trainer Representation:

Destined Rivals sources its cards from Japan’s The Glory of Team Rocket (releasing April 18th), Heat Wave Arena (released March 14th), and the Marnie and Steven decks (released February 21st). This amalgamation brings together Owner’s Pokémon for trainers across various generations, including Misty and Team Rocket (Gen 1), Ethan (Gen 2), Steven (Gen 3), Cynthia (Gen 4), Marnie (Gen 8), and Arven (Gen 9).
