On February 27, 2025, The Pokémon Company celebrated Pokémon Day with a Pokémon Presents livestream, revealing exciting updates for fans worldwide.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A
The highlight of the event was the announcement of “Pokémon Legends: Z-A,” set in Lumiose City within the Kalos region. Scheduled for release in late 2025 on Nintendo Switch, the game offers an immersive urban exploration experience. Players can choose from starter Pokémon Chikorita, Tepig, or Totodile. The game reintroduces Mega Evolutions and features real-time battles, adding a dynamic twist to traditional gameplay. The storyline delves into the history of Kalos, focusing on the enigmatic character A.Z. and the legendary Pokémon Zygarde.
Pokémon Champions
Another significant reveal was “Pokémon Champions,” a cross-platform battle-focused game available on Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android devices. This game enables players to engage in online battles, utilizing Pokémon imported from titles like “Pokémon Scarlet,” “Pokémon Violet,” and “Pokémon Home.” However, not all Pokémon from “Pokémon Home” will be compatible, and those obtained in “Champions” cannot be transferred back. The game is developed by Game Freak in collaboration with The Pokémon Works.

The livestream also announced the return of the animated series “Pokémon Concierge” on Netflix, with new episodes slated for September. Furthermore, “Pokémon Café Remix” is introducing an apple-themed menu, adding Flapple and Appletun to its roster, along with Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly in charming new outfits.
