Atlus has recently revealed that Persona 4 Revival will incorporate the controversial Denuvo digital rights management (DRM) system, much to the dismay of PC gamers. The official Steam page for the highly anticipated JRPG confirms the inclusion of Denuvo DRM, a move that many players find troubling due to the DRM’s reputation for invasiveness and possible performance degradation.

Originally launched in 2008, Persona 4 quickly became one of Atlus’ most successful titles, leading to enhanced versions like Persona 4 Golden on PS Vita in 2012, and spin-offs including Persona 4 Arena and Persona 4: Dancing All Night. The latest remake, Persona 4 Revival, was officially announced earlier this year during the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 and is now open for pre-orders on PS5 and PC.

While the use of Denuvo is not entirely unexpected — considering Sega’s previous use of the DRM on titles like Persona 3 Reload — its confirmation has still stirred concern. Denuvo remains a controversial subject in the gaming community, with many accusing it of negatively impacting game performance and causing unnecessary restrictions.

Aside from the DRM news, the Steam page also confirms that Persona 4 Revival will support 15 languages, including English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain and Latin America), Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Chinese (traditional and simplified), Thai, and Turkish — reflecting Atlus’ commitment to a broad global audience.

What This Means for Players

For longtime fans and newcomers alike, the inclusion of Denuvo DRM may affect gameplay experience on PC, potentially causing performance hiccups. Despite this, many remain hopeful that Atlus will optimize the game to minimize any negative impact.

With Persona 4 Revival approaching its launch, PC gamers face a tough decision balancing their excitement for the beloved RPG with concerns about DRM. Keeping an eye on community feedback and performance reports post-launch will be crucial.
