Developer Hotta Studio has released an unexpected character design update for Neverness to Everness on the Chinese server, modifying the appearance of the newly introduced character Shinku after receiving feedback from a portion of the player community. The adjustment comes shortly after the Version 1.2 update launched, sparking widespread discussion among players.
According to community reports, some players expressed dissatisfaction with changes they believed reduced the game’s fan-service elements. In response, the development team updated Shinku’s costume, making it more closely resemble the version previously showcased in global promotional materials. The quick revision has drawn attention for how rapidly the developers responded to community feedback.
The most noticeable changes affect Shinku’s Dragon Knight and Student of Terrasea outfits. In the original Chinese Version 1.2 release, the character wore visible shorts and athletic spats beneath her costume. Following the update, those elements were replaced with an inner garment that better matches the promotional artwork prepared for the global release. As a result, Shinku’s overall appearance now aligns more closely with the design many players had already seen before her official debut.

The decision has received mixed reactions across the community. Some players welcomed the update, saying the revised costume is more faithful to the promotional illustrations and provides a cleaner visual presentation. Others, however, argued that the original shorts fit Shinku’s combat style better and made the outfit appear more practical during action sequences.
One of the most surprising aspects of the situation is how quickly the patch was deployed. The costume adjustment reportedly arrived only around 12 hours after Version 1.2 became available on the Chinese server, highlighting the developer’s willingness to respond rapidly to player feedback and ongoing community discussions.
Meanwhile, players outside China will receive Shinku with her original promotional design when she arrives on the global server on July 9. It remains to be seen whether future updates will introduce additional cosmetic options or outfit variations, but the incident has already become one of the most talked-about topics within the Neverness to Everness community, illustrating how player feedback can directly influence character presentation in a live-service game.
