Indonesian game developer Digital Happiness has released Devlog 02 for its upcoming horror title DreadOut 3, revealing a major update to the appearance and characterization of the series’ main protagonist, Linda Meillinda.
According to the development update, Linda will no longer be portrayed as a high school student as she was in previous installments. Instead, the new game presents her as a much more mature character, both mentally and emotionally, reflecting the experiences she has gone through since the earlier events of the series.
A New Phase for Linda’s Character
This change represents a new stage in the narrative of the DreadOut franchise. In the original game, Linda was introduced as a high school girl who became trapped in a supernatural world filled with spirits and paranormal threats.
In DreadOut 3, the developers want to show that the character has grown. Her experiences dealing with the supernatural have shaped her into someone stronger and more emotionally resilient.
This approach allows the story to explore a deeper and more mature character arc, while also expanding the narrative possibilities of the series.
The Return of Her Iconic Ponytail
Despite the changes to her overall appearance and life stage, Digital Happiness intentionally kept one of Linda’s most recognizable visual traits.
Her iconic ponytail hairstyle is making a return in DreadOut 3. The developers explained that bringing back this signature look helps maintain a sense of familiarity for longtime fans of the series.
By keeping the ponytail while updating Linda’s design, the studio aims to balance character growth with nostalgic elements that players associate with the franchise.
Building Anticipation for DreadOut 3
The release of Devlog 02 has increased excitement among fans waiting for DreadOut 3. Many players are curious to see how Linda’s more mature portrayal will influence the story and gameplay.
With a protagonist who has clearly evolved and new supernatural threats likely awaiting her, the upcoming title could offer a deeper narrative experience while preserving the Indonesian horror atmosphere that made the DreadOut series popular among fans around the world.
