Two of the most celebrated indie puzzle platformers in modern gaming history — Limbo and Inside — are being delisted from GOG on Thursday, July 17, marking a significant blow to the platform’s indie game library.

Playdead’s Masterpieces Set to Depart

Developed by the acclaimed Danish studio Playdead, both Limbo (2010) and Inside (2016) are known for their eerie atmosphere, hauntingly minimalist storytelling, and tight puzzle-platforming mechanics. These games have garnered near-universal acclaim, earning their place as required playing for puzzle platformer fans and a staple in the indie genre.

The two titles explore bleak, dystopian environments using side-scrolling gameplay with horror undertones. Their storytelling is subtle but impactful, conveyed through visuals and gameplay rather than dialogue — a style that many games have since emulated.

Confirmed Delisting Date and Time

According to a GOG forum post by an official representative, both games will be removed from the GOG store on:

  • 🗓️ Thursday, July 17

  • 6am PDT / 9am EDT / 3pm CEST

After this time, Limbo and Inside will no longer be available for purchase on GOG. However, players who already own them will still be able to download and play the titles.

Why Are They Being Delisted?

GOG hasn’t provided an explicit reason, but these removals often stem from licensing agreements expiring or developers choosing to focus distribution on fewer platforms. It’s worth noting that both titles are still available on other storefronts like Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation, but their departure from GOG highlights ongoing concerns about digital game preservation.

What Should You Do?

If you’re a fan of atmospheric puzzle games or an indie game collector, you should buy both titles before July 17. Once removed, there’s no guarantee when — or if — they’ll return to GOG.

Limbo and Inside aren’t just indie classics — they’re milestones that helped shape the modern puzzle platformer genre. Their delisting from GOG is a reminder of how fragile digital access to games can be.

Act quickly to preserve these atmospheric masterpieces in your collection before they vanish from one of the most DRM-free stores on the internet.
