Nearly two years after launch, Lies of P continues to prove its staying power with a brand-new milestone and a shadow-dropped DLC that reignited global interest.
South Korean developer Neowiz has officially announced that Lies of P has surpassed 3 million copies sold worldwide. This achievement follows the sudden release of the game’s first major expansion, Lies of P: Overture, which launched without prior notice on June 6, 2025.
Originally released in September 2023, Lies of P offers a dark, twisted take on the Pinocchio tale, reimagined as a brutal Soulslike RPG. Despite being a day-one title on Xbox Game Pass, the game saw tremendous commercial success early on—reaching one million units sold within its first month. By late 2023, it had crossed the 2 million mark and has now gone on to sell over 3 million copies globally.
The newly released Overture DLC—announced earlier this year—has helped bring renewed attention to the title, thanks to positive reception from fans and critics alike. The expansion adds new story content, challenging bosses, and fresh gear, delivering an experience that complements the base game while offering new surprises.
According to Neowiz, while the number of units sold has reached 3 million, the player count is far higher, having climbed to over 7 million as of March 2025. This large gap is in part due to the game’s extended run on Xbox Game Pass, which only ended in March this year.
Neowiz’s continued support for Lies of P, combined with the momentum from the new DLC, signals that the studio is far from done with its Pinocchio-inspired world. With the game’s blend of haunting visuals, punishing combat, and original storytelling, Lies of P has carved out a unique identity in the crowded Soulslike genre.
Whether future content or a potential sequel is in development remains to be seen—but with over 3 million copies sold, Lies of P is clearly a long-term success story.
