“King’s Proposal” by “Date A Live” Author Tachibana Koushi Gets an Anime Adaptation

November 3, 2025
A light novel titled “King’s Proposal” has officially been announced to receive an anime adaptation. The series is written by Tachibana Koushi, the same author behind the highly popular “Date A Live” franchise. However, as of now, there has been no announcement regarding the animation studio, nor any details about the production committee or post-production team involved in the project. The story  follows a seemingly ordinary high school boy named Mushiki Kuga, who unexpectedly gains mysterious powers from a talented witch named Saika Kouzaki. Saika possesses incredible magical abilities and control over forces that shape the world itself.

Despite its fantasy and magic elements, “King’s Proposal” is primarily a harem anime, which might not appeal to everyone due to its familiar genre tropes. The story is set in an all-girls magic academy, creating a comedic and chaotic situation when the protagonist, Mushiki Kuga, disguises himself as a girl under the name Saika Kouzaki in order to attend.

Throughout his time at the academy, he will receive help from various assistants and classmates who support his growth as he learns to control his newfound powers. The anime adaptation is expected to premiere sometime between 2026 and 2027, depending on production schedules. More details — including character designs, voice cast, and staff information — are expected to be revealed soon once official decisions are finalized by the production committee.

Fans of Tachibana Koushi’s previous works are already eagerly anticipating how “King’s Proposal” will combine romantic comedy, harem dynamics, and magical fantasy in its upcoming adaptation.
