A creative Pokémon fan has reimagined the Ghost-type favorite, Gengar, with two stunning new Gigantamax forms—and the fan art has quickly become a hit among the community. Gengar, a beloved Gen 1 Pokémon, has long held a place in fans’ hearts thanks to its mischievous personality, haunting presence, and impressive battle potential.
Originally introduced as the final evolution of Gastly—achieved by trading Haunter or using a Linking Cord—Gengar is known for its shadowy antics and powerful Ghost-type abilities. While Gengar already received a Gigantamax form in Pokémon Sword and Shield, a Reddit user named LapiSan_Laboratory imagined what two alternative Gigantamax forms could look like.
The first fan-designed Gigantamax form splits Gengar’s body into two separate halves, linked by an oversized tongue that exudes ghostly energy. Appropriately, its special G-Max Move is named Treat, a play on its trickster persona. The move not only deals damage but also changes the opponent’s type to pure Ghost, adding a strategic twist to battles.
The second form takes a more spectral approach: Gengar is shown with white, pupil-less eyes, surrounded by smoke and two looming shadowy figures. This form features a G-Max Move called Get Out, which causes heavy damage and forces the opponent to switch Pokémon—perfect for disrupting battle strategies.
These two designs are more than just visually striking—they’re rich in lore. The artist based the forms on Agatha of the Indigo Elite Four and Morty, the Ghost-type Gym Leader from Johto’s Ecruteak City. Both characters are known for using Gengar, and their distinct personalities shine through the fan art’s designs.
Fans across Reddit have praised the artwork, noting how it creatively pays homage to Gengar’s spooky roots while bringing fresh ideas to the franchise. The Gengar new Gigantamax forms blend nostalgia, creativity, and gameplay potential, making them a hit with longtime and new fans alike.
As official Pokémon games continue to evolve, fan creations like these remind us of the vibrant community that keeps the spirit of Pokémon alive and ever-expanding.
