Funcom is stepping up to address player concerns in Dune: Awakening after a recent patch caused significant losses for many players. Those affected by lost vehicles, equipment, and bases due to the update can now expect reimbursements as the developer works to restore in-game assets.
Released in June 2025, Dune: Awakening immerses players in a survival MMO set on Arrakis—within an alternate timeline where Paul Atreides never existed. Players engage in political intrigue, resource scavenging, base-building, and encounter iconic sandworms as they navigate the harsh desert environment. Ports for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles are planned for release in 2026.
The July 2025 update brought several key improvements, including a fix for a damaging resource duplication glitch, an increased spawn rate for sandworms near harvested spice fields, and new weapon schematics added to Asmara Efendi’s shop. Despite these positive changes, the patch also temporarily shifted the Deep Desert endgame territory from PvE to PvP, inadvertently resulting in players losing bases and equipment.
In a developer update blog post, Funcom apologized for the “unfortunate amount of lost bases and equipment” and confirmed they are “working to reimburse vehicles and items (to the best of our ability).” Players can claim their lost assets through the in-game ‘Claim Rewards’ tab expected to be available by the end of this week.
Moreover, Funcom acknowledged additional losses caused by in-game bugs affecting vehicles and announced plans to create tools to better handle reimbursements moving forward. The developer is also actively cracking down on cheaters to ensure a fair playing field.
Players can look forward to a steady stream of post-launch content, including free updates, optional paid DLCs, new features, and ongoing enhancements to enrich the Dune: Awakening experience.
