Nexon has officially revealed FAREIDOLIA, the highly anticipated anime RPG previously known under the working title Project RX. Developed by IO DIVISION—a studio led by key veterans behind the hit mobile game Blue Archive—the project has dropped its placeholder name alongside exciting new details about its setting, lore, and colorful cast of characters.
Positioned as an immersive 3D anime game, FAREIDOLIA takes players on an isekai-style journey into a parallel world. The story takes place in Anima City, a bustling metropolis that mirrors Earth but harbors key supernatural differences. Players step into the shoes of the Director of the Anima City Restoration Center, who also serves as the caretaker of Twilight Hall. Within this central headquarters, players will live alongside “Mates”—special girls endowed with unique abilities—while resolving urban crises and deepening their personal bonds through everyday interactions.
Several prominent Mates have already been introduced:
- Minieh: An energetic explorer driven by a thrill-seeking desire for grand adventures.
- Ohana: A self-proclaimed all-around genius with a confident flair.
- Shami: A relatable cat-eared girl who constantly finds herself short on cash.
- Elevator Girl: A mysterious figure tasked with operating the primary lift inside Twilight Hall.
FAREIDOLIA carries strong creative pedigree. The project is directed by Min-seo Cha, former producer of Blue Archive, with art direction spearheaded by prominent character designer YutokaMizu. While originally teased in late 2024 as Project RX, Nexon is actively expanding the title across multiple platforms, with releases planned for PC, mobile, and consoles.
Although an official launch date has yet to be announced, Nexon confirmed that FAREIDOLIA will feature prominently at their Tokyo Game Show 2026 booth. Attendees can look forward to playable hands-on demos and interactive booth events, including rock-paper-scissors matches hosted alongside the game’s cast.
