Official teaser for Euro Truck Simulator 2 Project Coaches update with coach bus driving

SCS Software has officially lifted the curtain on Project Coaches, a major new update in development for Euro Truck Simulator 2. Over a decade after the game’s original release in 2012, this ambitious addition promises to completely redefine the driving experience by allowing players to transport people instead of cargo — bringing coach bus simulation into the world of ETS2.

🚍 Introducing Project Coaches

According to SCS Software’s blog, Project Coaches is “the start of a brand-new driving experience,” with players soon able to take on the role of a coach driver navigating across European cities. Much like the trucking system, this feature aims to simulate long-distance passenger transport — adding a new layer of immersion and career variety.

Players will have “a whole new way to explore and work”, switching from hauling goods to managing bus routes, schedules, and passenger satisfaction. This update could rival dedicated bus simulators, while still preserving the rich environments and road systems ETS2 is known for.

🕹️ A Fresh Twist to a Beloved Classic

For many, Euro Truck Simulator 2 is more than just a game — it’s a relaxing, immersive experience. With over 40,000 concurrent players still enjoying it daily on Steam, it’s clear that ETS2 has maintained an active, passionate community even 13 years later.

Adding coach driving expands the gameplay significantly, opening up new roleplay opportunities, new vehicle types, and potentially new destinations optimized for public transport routes. It’s a long-requested feature finally becoming official, and not just limited to mods.

⏳ Still Early in Development

SCS has confirmed that Project Coaches is in early development, meaning fans shouldn’t expect its release any time soon. However, given the studio’s history of consistent updates and player-first design philosophy, expectations are understandably high.

🔮 What This Means for the Future of ETS2

Project Coaches could be the most transformative ETS2 update since its launch. It not only refreshes the gameplay loop but also introduces new business dynamics and real-world simulation elements that appeal to fans of both truck and bus simulation genres.

As always, SCS Software is expected to share more details and behind-the-scenes development insights in future blog posts. Until then, players can keep hauling cargo across Europe — knowing that a whole new driving adventure is on the horizon.
