What Is ScreenX?
ScreenX is a premium cinema format developed by CJ 4DPLEX. Unlike traditional movie screenings that use a single front-facing screen, ScreenX expands selected scenes onto the left and right walls of the auditorium, creating a 270-degree panoramic viewing experience.
This format enhances large-scale action sequences by surrounding audiences with extended visuals, making battles and dynamic environments feel more immersive and cinematic.
Specially Reworked by ufotable and Aniplex
For this upgraded version, approximately 500 key cuts from the film were carefully reworked by ufotable and Aniplex.
Instead of simply stretching existing footage, the creative teams added:
Extended background environments
Additional visual effects
Seamless side-panel animations
Expanded action choreography framing
Importantly, not the entire movie is presented in 270-degree format. Only major scenes — particularly intense battles and dramatic Infinity Castle sequences — receive the full wrap-around ScreenX treatment. This selective expansion ensures that key emotional and action-driven moments feel larger without overwhelming quieter scenes.
A New Way to Experience the Infinity Castle Arc
The Infinity Castle storyline is known for its visually complex environments, shifting architecture, and high-stakes combat. With ScreenX technology, these elements are expected to feel even more expansive and immersive.
For longtime fans of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba franchise, this re-release offers a fresh reason to return to theaters — especially for those who want to experience the large-scale battles in a more enveloping cinematic format.
As the February 2026 launch approaches, additional details about international release dates and participating theaters are expected to be announced.
