⚠️ WARNING: The following article contains minor spoilers for Deltarune Chapter 4.
Toby Fox is back at it again with hidden surprises—this time referencing another iconic indie hit. A clever Among Us Easter egg has been discovered in the newly released Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4, and it didn’t take long for the Among Us devs to notice—and react in true meme-worthy fashion.
Among Us Spotted in Deltarune Chapter 4
Fans diving into the updated Deltarune chapters across all platforms were shocked to find what looks like a small reference to Innersloth’s Among Us tucked away in a secret room. The room can only be accessed when using the new mouse mode features available on Nintendo’s Switch 2 Joy-Con 2 controllers, making the Easter egg even more exclusive.
Though subtle, the reference is unmistakable: a suspiciously familiar crewmate-shaped object—perfectly red and perfectly sus.
Among Us Devs Respond—and Toby Fox Fires Back (With Humor)
After IGN reported on the Easter egg, the Among Us social media team responded with pure excitement, joking that they had “crashed out” from the surprise. The exchange didn’t stop there.
In true Toby Fox fashion, the Deltarune creator posted fake “hotfix patch notes” announcing that Among Us had been removed from the game—clearly poking fun at how seriously fans (and devs) take these fun discoveries.
Among Us developer Innersloth fired back with a simple but heartfelt response: “RESPECT.”
Why This Easter Egg Matters
Deltarune is no stranger to references, often nodding to pop culture and other games, including Undertale alumni like Sans and Toriel. But this Among Us cameo is one of the first times Toby Fox has directly acknowledged another contemporary indie game within his universe.
It’s also a great example of the tight-knit nature of the indie dev community. These playful shout-outs are a reminder that creators are fans, too—and they’re not afraid to share the love.
What’s Next for Deltarune?
While Chapters 3 and 4 just launched, Toby Fox confirmed that Chapter 5 is on the way, currently slated for 2026. The current update has already doubled the content available since the game’s original debut in 2018.
With more secrets likely to come, fans will no doubt keep combing through each new chapter—on high alert for whatever “sus” surprises might appear next.
