Cyberpunk 2077 Player Beats Game Without Cyberware

Cyberpunk 2077 V fighting Adam Smasher without cyberware upgrades

One Cyberpunk 2077 player has pulled off an unbelievable feat: finishing the game without using any cyberware. Even more shocking, this wasn’t an intentional challenge run—it was a complete accident.

⚠️ Warning: Spoilers ahead, including details about the game’s final boss.

The so-called “all-natural” challenge has been circulating in the Cyberpunk 2077 community for years. It involves avoiding cyberware implants entirely, except for the mandatory Kiroshi Optics, resulting in a brutal difficulty spike. Players who attempt it role-play as a V determined to cling to their humanity. While the tabletop Cyberpunk RPG penalizes cyberware use with a loss of sanity, CD Projekt Red’s video game does not—making the self-imposed restriction even more punishing.

While many fans have deliberately tried this challenge, Reddit user Anxious_Singer_4823 recently shared a story of someone who did it entirely by accident. According to their post, their younger brother unknowingly went through the entire game without installing a single upgrade.

“I was watching him beat Adam Smasher, and after he beat [him], I was wondering why it took him so long,” the Redditor explained. “It took him six tries.”

On closer inspection, they realized his character had no cyberware—only the basic optics—and had not spent any attribute points either. The player later admitted he simply “didn’t know how it worked.”

Despite being massively underpowered, he managed to defeat Adam Smasher after multiple attempts, completing the game in about 20 hours. His V finished at level 27, far below the level cap of 60, showing that he focused mostly on the main storyline instead of side content.

The story has since gone viral, with fans praising the accidental “ultra hardcore” run as one of the most impressive unintentional feats in Cyberpunk 2077.
