Codemasters, the acclaimed developer behind the upcoming F1 25, is exploring the idea of bringing the popular Formula 1 racing series to the Nintendo Switch 2. Although the concept is still in its early stages, the possibility of future F1 games launching on Nintendo’s next-generation console is under consideration.

The F1 franchise has a rich history, starting 25 years ago with titles like F1 2000, F1 Championship Season 2000, and F1 Manager, all released in the same year. Since 2009, the mainline series has produced annual installments, with F1 25 scheduled to launch on May 30. Codemasters continues to hold a strong presence in the competitive racing game market.

Could Nintendo Switch 2 Host Future F1 Games?

Gavin Cooper, the creative director of the F1 series, recently shared insights with Traxion, a racing game news outlet, about the possibility of F1 titles appearing on the Nintendo Switch 2. Cooper revealed that Codemasters will be having internal discussions to evaluate the Switch 2’s hardware capabilities and how well it could deliver the F1 experience.

“We need some smart people to look at it and see what the console can actually do and whether it’s actually a good fit for the kind of experience that F1 is,” Cooper stated. While no official announcement has been made, this cautious optimism hints that future F1 games could find a home on the new console if the fit is right.

What This Means for Fans

For now, it remains uncertain whether F1 25 itself will debut on the Nintendo Switch 2, but Codemasters’ openness to exploring the platform leaves the door open for subsequent titles. If the Switch 2’s technology matches the demands of the series, Nintendo players may soon enjoy one of the most immersive racing franchises on their console.

Stay tuned for more updates as Codemasters continues to evaluate the Switch 2 and prepares to deliver the next chapter in F1 gaming.
