Castlevania Skipped Konami’s Press Start Event

Castlevania fans waiting during Konami Press Start livestream 2025

Konami’s Press Start livestream aired recently, delivering a wave of announcements across major franchises. But while Silent Hill fans were treated to a surprise remake reveal, Castlevania devotees were left in the dark — again.

Despite rumors and expectations, the gothic Castlevania series was nowhere to be found during the event, frustrating longtime fans who had hoped for a long-awaited revival of the iconic vampire-hunting franchise.

Silent Hill Stole the Spotlight

During the livestream, Konami revealed that a remake of the original 1999 Silent Hill is officially in development. The project is being handled by Bloober Team, the same studio behind the Silent Hill 2 Remake. Though few details were shared, the announcement came with a teaser logo, offering a nostalgic thrill to horror fans.

Unfortunately, no such update came for Castlevania, which has been missing in action in recent Konami showcases.

Castlevania Reimagining Still Alive, Says Insider

Luckily, all hope is not lost.

Respected journalist and VGC owner Andy Robinson addressed the elephant in the room shortly after the event. When asked on Twitter what happened to the new Castlevania project he had previously reported on, Robinson responded confidently:

“Still coming AFAIK.” (source)

Robinson’s earlier report described the game as a “reimagining” of Castlevania, said to be in development with the help of external studios based in Japan. While Konami has yet to make an official reveal, Robinson’s latest comment suggests the project is still very much alive.

What to Expect from Castlevania’s Return

First launched in 1986 on the Famicom Disk System (known in Japan as Akumajō Dracula), Castlevania has evolved into one of gaming’s most beloved gothic action franchises. It typically follows the eternal battle between Count Dracula and the Belmont clan, vampire hunters sworn to stop him.

While the last major entry was nearly a decade ago, the franchise has remained in the public eye thanks to the success of Netflix’s animated series and the Castlevania Advance Collection.

If the “reimagining” rumors hold true, players might be looking at a bold new direction for the series — potentially a 3D action reboot, a return to 2D Metroidvania roots, or something entirely fresh.

When Could the Game Be Revealed?

Many speculate that Gamescom 2025 or The Game Awards could be the right moment for Konami to lift the curtain on the new Castlevania. Until then, the wait continues, but with renewed hope.

Stay tuned — the vampires may be hiding in the shadows for now, but it looks like Castlevania is sharpening its whip for a big return.
