Bend Studio, the developer behind Days Gone, has reportedly canceled several unannounced projects — including multiple open world games — over the past five years. While the Oregon-based studio has only released the upcoming Days Gone remaster since 2019, new information suggests that the team has remained active behind the scenes, though much of its work never made it to the public eye.
LinkedIn Leak Hints at Multiple Canceled Projects
The rumor gained traction after gaming news leaker Timur222 shared a screenshot from a former Bend Studio employee’s LinkedIn profile. The employee, who reportedly left following studio layoffs in June 2025, revealed that they had worked on “multiple canceled/unannounced projects” during their tenure at Bend, from late 2019 to mid-2025.
Of particular interest is the employee’s mention of open world mechanics and environmental design — hinting that at least one, and possibly several, of these scrapped projects were open world titles. These could include the previously reported canceled live-service project, or potentially other games that were never publicly acknowledged by Sony or Bend Studio.
Not the First Cancellation at Bend Studio
In January 2025, reports emerged that Sony had quietly canceled two major live-service games — one from Bend Studio and another from Bluepoint Games involving a God of War spin-off. That news alone was disappointing to fans, as the Bend project had already been the subject of online rumors and speculation.
Now, with this new leak, it seems that the canceled live-service title was just one of several projects halted during Bend Studio’s long post-Days Gone development cycle.
What’s Next for Bend Studio?
The studio has remained relatively quiet, with only the Days Gone remaster — expected in late 2025 — officially on the horizon. There has been no formal announcement regarding any new IP or follow-up title, despite repeated job listings and hints about multiplayer integration in future projects.
The string of cancellations may be attributed to internal restructuring, shifting creative goals, or Sony’s changing strategy around first-party development. Still, the sheer number of shelved games suggests that Bend Studio has faced significant hurdles in its post-Days Gone evolution.
For fans still holding out hope for Days Gone 2, or another major single-player adventure, this news may be bittersweet. While it confirms The Studio has remained creatively ambitious, it also reinforces the studio’s rocky development road over the past half-decade.
