Battlefield 6 Fans Criticize Weak Grenade and Rocket Launchers

Some Battlefield 6 players are voicing frustration over the game’s grenade and rocket launchers, labeling them as “largely useless.” The criticism comes as the shooter enters its second open beta weekend, running from August 14 to August 17, where hundreds of thousands of fans have been testing the game and sharing their feedback online.

Grenade Launcher Criticism Grows

One of the loudest complaints surrounds the grenade launcher, which many fans feel is poorly balanced. The weapon has a limited area of effect and often requires direct hits to secure kills — something many players find unintuitive.

Reddit user Nameless908 sparked discussion by comparing the weapon to a “spitball pen,” calling it “almost completely useless.” According to players, the grenade launcher’s low impact makes it one of the weakest weapons in the Battlefield 6 open beta.

Rocket Launcher Faces Similar Backlash

The rocket launcher has also come under fire for its lack of splash damage and inability to destroy walls or static structures — traits that players expected from a heavy weapon. In many cases, the rocket launcher only suppresses enemies if the shot doesn’t land directly, leaving players disappointed with its effectiveness.

Popular YouTuber Jason “videogamedunkey” Gastrow highlighted these frustrations in a viral video, showing both launchers struggling to live up to player expectations.

Why DICE May Have Nerfed Them

While criticism is widespread, there is also a strong case for why DICE intentionally designed the launchers this way. By limiting splash damage, the developers appear to be discouraging their use against infantry and positioning them as niche anti-vehicle tools.

Players are also able to carry both launchers simultaneously, already making vehicles vulnerable in Battlefield 6. Increasing explosive radius or damage could risk upsetting balance and making vehicles less viable.

Additionally, some ammunition types — such as Thermobaric Grenades — already provide strong utility, stunning enemies and igniting them without requiring perfect accuracy.

The Ongoing Debate

As Battlefield 6 moves closer to launch, DICE faces the challenge of balancing community expectations with gameplay integrity. Fans may want more destructive power from launchers, but developers appear intent on keeping them specialized rather than all-purpose weapons.

Whether or not these criticisms result in adjustments before release remains to be seen, but the debate has already become one of the most discussed aspects of the open beta.
